Firstly, all began from the father point of view, then from the present, with his daughter. So each chapter is from differents timelines.
The father is supposed to have written a ghost story book, about a haunted house where he lived with his wife and daughter. The book was a best seller that sadly defines the daughter life. She is marked by the happenings from it.
When her father dies, she discovers that the "haunted" house was still her fathers and now it's hers. So she move there trying to solve if the book is true or false.
What it starts as a ghost story, at the end it's a sad story, realistic somehow and zero scary (trust me I'm so so easily scared).
I like it so much, it's my second book from Riley Sager and probably not the last.
Is it not scary? I might add it to my list, then.
